1915/15 Star named 3051 PTE R PEARSON W YORK R.
Reginald Pearson went to Blenheim Council School and Leeds Technical College and became an electrician. He enlisted into the West Yorkshire Regiment numbered 3051 on 19th Oct 1914, at the time he was living in Leeds. After training he was sent to France with the 1/7th battalion landing on 16th Apr 1915. He was wounded in action on 14th Jul 1916 with gun shot wound to right thigh when the regiment was at Leipsig Salient and attacked the enemy in their trenches, unfortunately this was not successful as the enemy counterattacked and took back the trenches. Reginald was sent back to the UK to recover. He was back in France on 17th July 1917 and joined the 2/8th battalion and then was sent to officers training in the UK on 28th Sep 1917.
His officers training report on 7th Dec 1917 stated, requires more dask and quickness of decision, works hard will need an extra month. On 28th May 1918 he was granted a commission in the 5th West Yorkshire Regiment although he want the Royal Engineers signalling. On 23rd Oct 1918 when attached to the 1st battalion, Reginald was killed in action at Oise et Sambre Canal when they attacked the enemy. He was one of two officer killed, the casualties were 2 officers killed & 3 wounded, 16 other ranks killed, 70 wounded and 16 missing.
