      Description:

      WW1 British War Medal named 2 LIEUT C HIRSCHHORN.


      Cecil Hirschhorn born 25th Nov 1897 in New Barnet, Herts and educated at Leyton County High School & University of London. He was living in Wood Green as an 18 year old Bank Clerk when he enlisted into the East Surrey Regiment numbered 34388 on 4th Apr 1917. He was granted a commission on 31st July 1917 and joined the 3rd Wiltshire Regiment as a 2nd Lt.


      He was attached to the 9th Devonshire Regiment and landed in France on 24th Nov 1917 and then on to Italy on 1st Dec 1917. Sadly on 1st Feb 1918 he was admitted to hospital with Enteric Fever and died on the 21st Feb 1918 aged 20 years old in B Section of the 11th General Hospital, Italy. He was buried aged in Campo Santo, Genoa.
