WW1 British War Medal named 234405 1AM L A SHELL RAF.
Leonard Arthur Shell born 29th Apr 1893 in Birmingham and was a motor driver when he enlisted into the Royal Naval Air Service numbered F34405 on 30th Jul 1917 at Crystal Palace and Dunkirk. He joined the RAF and was in 14 Squadron in France from 5th Dec 1917 till 15th Jan 1919.
When WW2 came he was living in Golders Green, Middlesex and was a firewatcher on Old Crompton Street when on the night of 11th May 1941 a Luftwaffe air raid with high explosive bombs hit the street and he was killed and is buried in Westminster City graveyard aged 48 years old.
