Walter Harvey born in Colyton, Devon enlisted into the 2nd Devonshire Regt numbered 9250 in 1911 and landed in France on 6th Nov 1914. He was wounded and died from these wounds aged 22 years old on 18th Dec 1914 in D Coy which lead the attack with C Coy, this is when the Devons where in the trenches near Le Touret and they attacked the German Trenches facing them which they took capturing 27 prisoners at a high cost, 2 officers killed, 1 missing and 5 wounded with 121 killed, wounded or missing. He is remembered on the Le Touret Memorial
