Sydney Hyam born Oct 1895 in Birkenhead, Cheshire to Barnett & Selina Hyam, he went to New York in 1911 aged only 16 years old . He was member of the Jewish faith who enlisted into the 8th South Lancashire Regiment numbered 43231 and then transferred to the 2/5th Loyal North Lancs Regt numbered 28904. He survived the war and in 1919 travelled to Brisbane, Australia and Canada before returning to the UK.
During WW2 he was granted a commission as 2nd Lt in the Army Cadet Force numbered 283380 in the West Lancs. Made a Lt in May 1954 and a Capt in July 1953 when he relinquished his commission. He died on 17th Mar 1955 in Liverpool South.
