WW1 Military Cross unnamed as issued, British War & Victory Medals named MAJOR G C CADDY.
Geoffrey Charles Caddy born on 19th Jun 1889 in Beckenham, Kent and was a 25 year old mining engineer when enlisted into the 2nd Kings Edwards Horse numbered 1149 on 11th Nov 1914 as a gunner in their machine gun section. He was commissioned into the Machine Gun Corps as a 2nd Lt on 18th Nov 1914. He was still in the UK for training as an officer as was initially put in the Machine Gun Cops 8th Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry as he caught Appendicitis in Jan 1916. He eventually landed in France on 9th Feb 1916 and was put into the 51st MG Company, made a Temp/Lt on 7th July 1916 before being sent back to the UK on 9th Nov 1916.
He landed back in France on 28th Feb 1917 with the 37th Battalion MGC, transferred to the 63rd Battalion MGC 1st Mar 1918 and then back to the 37th Battalion MGC as a Temp/Major whilst commandeering a Company. He finished the war on 9th Apr 1919 when he was sent home to be discharged.
