WW1 Memorial Plaque named ROBERT MURRAY ROGERS.
Robert Murray Rogers from London enlisted into the 28th London Regiment numbered 2759 on 21st Sep 1914. After training he landed in France on 22nd Jan 1915 with them. He stays in France till 18th Sep 1915 when he is commissioned into the 8th Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He joins them in France and on 2nd Jul 1916 after the start of the Battle of the Somme, he is in the line at Roclincourt when the Germans detonates a mine under them. Many witnesses state he was sent up the line to replace an officer wounded and then the mine went off. He was listed as missing in action and then declared killed in action on the 2nd Jul 1916.
He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
