WW1 Memorial Plaque named DAVID EDWIN MITCHELL.
David Edwin Mitchell born in Northampton and living in Poplar, Middlesex enlisted into the 2nd Essex Regiment numbered 27018. On the 23rd Oct 1916 at Trones Wood the regiment assembled and went over the top at 2.30pm but were met with heavy machine gun fire and by 9pm had to be withdrawn. Sadly David was killed in action and is is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
