WW1 Military Medal named S-10402 CPL P DOLMAN 1/GORD HIGHRS & British War & Victory Medals named S-10402 SJT P DOLMAN GORDONS.
Percy Dolman born 27th Nov 1897 in Burton-Upon-Trent to George & Mary Jane Dolman and educated at Guild Street Boys School. He enlisted into the Gordon Highlanders numbered S/10402 declaring he was 19 years old on 29th May 1915 but was in fact only 17 years old. After training he was posted to France in Jan 1916 with the 1st Battalion. He was wounded and sent home in June 1917 but recovered in Aug 1917 and sent back to France. He recovered and was awarded an MM LG 18th Jul 1918 for the actions between 21st to 29th Mar 1918. He was badly gassed in action in June 1918 and sent to hospital. He recovered and was awarded an MM Bar LG 11th Feb 1919 for the actions between 21st Aug to 3rd Sep 1918. Sadly on 1st Oct 1918 he was killed in action, we believe by our own artillery falling short during an attack on a village whilst leading his men, the village had resisted previous attacks by other battalions. It was largely due to his actions that the attack was successful. He is remembered on the Ribecourt Railway Cemetry.
It comes with copy photo of him, original mod certificate and BWM & VM medal certificate.
