Albert Edward Tinsley was from Anderley, Cheshire when he enlisted into the 21st Manchester Regiment numbered 40663. He landed in France with them and then transferred later to the 12th Battalion. He won an MM LG 24th Jan 1919 for the Battle of Amiends in Aug 1918. Albert was captured by the Germans on the 9th Sept 1918 when the battalion attacked the enemy Dessart Wood. He was sent to a POW camp till the end of the war.
Cheshire Observer 23rd Aug 1919 at Chester Major M F Clarke DSO presented Albert with his MM for "Continuous good work under heavy shell fire".
