WW1 Meritorious Service Medal named 9258 A CPL J MACONACHIE 1/CAM HDRS.
James Maconachie born in St Andrews in Fifeshire but living in Glasgow enlisted into the Cameron Highlanders numbered 9258 and landed in France on 19th Dec 1914 and served with the 1st and 2nd battalions. At some stage he became attached to the Trench Mortar Battery and was awarded a MSM in France for service on 1st Jan 1918. He was badly wounded and died from his wounds on the 18th Oct 1918. On the 29th Jan 1919 LG he was awarded the French Medaille Militaire whilst in service with the Trench Mortar Battery.
