Cecil Charles Birch born 1st March 1881 and aged 23 years old living in High Wycombe enlisted into the Kings Liverpool Regiment numbered 18/16563 on 3rd Aug 1914 and then received a commission into the Royal Fusiliers on 26th Aug 1915. He was in the 26th Battalion but attached to the 5th Battalion and sent to France. Cecil is listed as being Wounded in Action on 26th July 1916 with the 5th Battalion from a shell burst which causes injuries to his right hand and he is sent home as a 2nd Lt. 22nd June 1917 he is made an acting Capt while commanding a Co. He is next noted as being Wounded in Action on 20th Sept 1917 at Hooge with Gun Shot Wounds left forearm and is sent home again as a Capt.
