British War & Victory Medals named 2655 CPL H BRADFIELD BERKS YEO.
Howard Bradfield enlisted into the 2/1st Berkshire Yeomanry numbered 2655 around May 1915 due to his number. They were a 2nd Line regiment based in Norfolk on coastal defence duty at this time. He would have entered Egyptian theatre after Jan 1st 1916. Soon after his arrival he was transferred to 17th Squadron, Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) numbered 96064 again from his numbering. The fact that he's a Corporal may suggest he had previous service or was mature and a very good soldier? He would have commanded one of the gun teams. Disembodied 03/08/1919.
Interesting thing about Howard's medal index card is a request chasing his Sultan's Sudan Medal. The only H Bradfield we can find is 5938 Pte H Bradfield in the 1st Grenadier Guards who also served in the Boer War this time as 5938 Pte C H Bradfield Grenadier Guards. Could it be the same man from WW1?
