British War & Victory Medals named 81946 GNR F SHEPHERD RA.
Frederick Shepherd born in 1898 and lived in Montrose, Scotland was an 18 year old Cycle Mechanic when he enlisted into the Royal Garrison Artillery numbered 81946 as a gunner on 18th May 1916. He was put into the 18th Heavy Battery RGA which was based in Salonika for the war. It was here that Frederick caught Malaria and after the war ended was awarded a small pension for the disease.
