WW1 British & Victory Medals named S-28614 PTE W FLETCHER RIF BRIG & Memorial Plaque named WILFRED FLETCHER. Comes with two photos one in uniform the other in soccer kit with others playing for his regiment in 1916.
Wilfred Fletcher born in Rochdale, Lancashire about 1893 enlisted in Rochdale into the Rifle Brigade numbered S-28614 with the 13th Battalion. On the 11th Apr 1917 the 13th Battalion together with the 13th KRRC attacked the village of Monchy-le-Preux with two tanks and captured it. This was described as the one of the greatest feats of the Battle of Arras. Sadly Wilfred was listed as missing and presumed dead. He was only 24 years old and is remembered on the Arras memorial.
