      British War & Victory Medals named 41798 PTE F BRADY LINC R & Memorial Plaque named FRANK BRADY.


      Frank Brady born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Durham and enlisted into the 2/4th Lincolnshire Regt numbered 41798. Formed in Lincoln on 13 September 1914 as a Second Line Battalion, July 1915: attached to 177th Brigade, 59th (2nd North Midland) Division and then April 1916 moved with Division to Ireland and took part in actions against rebellion. January 1917 returned to England and moved to France next month.

      On 26th Sep 1917 the battalion took part in the Battle of Polygon Wood, Ypres where they attacked along a front at 5.50am taking large casualties but were successful. 1 officer killed, 11 officers wounded, 36 other ranks killed, 144 wounded with 18 missing. Sadly Frank was killed in this action with his body never being recovered. He is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial. He left a wife and three children.
