      WW1 British War & Victory Medals named 2 LIEUT J D ALLISON & Special Constabulary Long Service Medal named JOHN D ALLISON.



      John Dempster Allison born 19th Jan 1890 in Hutchesontown, Glasgow was a Coal Salesman when he enlisted into the Highland Light Infantry numbered 28169 on 1st Apr 1916 serving on home duty in the Garrison Service. He gained a commission on 29th Jan 1918 in the 2nd Highland Light Infantry as a 2nd Lt and landed in France on 18th Apr 1918. On 20th Jul 1918 he was sent to hospital suffering from a Potts fracture (badly sprained ankle) and stayed in France recovering. He was back with his battalion on 25th Aug 1918 and then on 30th Aug 1918 was sent to 88th Prisoner of War Company where he stayed for the rest of the war. Discharged from the army on 6th July 1919.

      He went to the USA on 23rd Jul 1939 and died in Scotland aged 76 years old on 5th Feb 1966.
