Richard Gerald Gibbings was a cadet at St Lawrence Contingent who gained a commission as a 2nd Lt on 7th Oct 1912 with the 6th (Duke of Connaught's Own) Hampshire Regiment. Along comes WW1 and he is sent to India attached to the 2/5th Battalion - comes with a copied photo of him with other officers confirming he is attached from the 6th Battalion dated Dec 1914.
The battalion moved to India in Dec 1914 before going to Egypt in Apr 1917 attached to 75th Division. Disbanded in Palestine Aug 1918.
Made a Captain in the 6th Battalion Hampshire Regt Dec 1921 and 28th July 1926 resigns his commission.
