Lewis Edmund Elliott born 28th Jun 1899 in Shackleforth, Surrey joined the Royal Navy numbered J76939 on 28th Aug 1917 when he was an 18 year old labourer living in Godalming, Surrey. After training he joined SS Armadale Court on 27th Dec 1917. She was engaged was engaged in blockade work between the Shetlands and Norway and during the last year of the War she was engaged in convoy work once more, acting as escort on the North and South American routes and between England and Sierra Leone. Lewis left her on 15th Jan 1919 before being demobbed. He received a Silver War Badge.
After WW2 Lewis became a Gardener living in Bramley, Nr Guildford Surrey and served in WW2 as a Police War Reserve and obtained long service clasp up to 1965. He died in Surrey in 1975 aged 75 years old.
