Charles Beckinsale was born in Bampton, Oxfordshire on 10th Dec 1877 and was a 39 year old market gardener when he enlisted into the Royal Navy on 28th June 1916 as a Stoker 2nd Class numbered K34499. After training he was on HMS Hibernia from Sept 1916 to Oct 1917 and in the Grand Fleet Nore Command. Next he went to HMS Tamar from May 1918 to Dec 1918 based in Hong Kong and then HMS Euryalus Dec 1918 to Apr 1919 before become demobbed in June 1919 as a Stoker 1st Class.
According to the 1939 census he was living in Windlesham, Bagshot as a general labourer with his wife, Son and Daughter-in-Law and their 3 children.
