WW1 Victory Medal named 59550 PTE G MITCHELL R SCOTS.
George Mitchell born in Govan, Glasgow enlisted into the Highland Light Infantry numbered 57086 and then transferred to the 5/6th Royal Scots and landed in France with them. On the 11th Aug 1918 the regiment where at La Folie and given orders to attack Parvillers with Tank support. The attack failed and the regiment had 9 officers killed and 3 wounded. Sadly at this attack George was reported missing, then killed in action aged 19 years old and is buried at Bouchoir New British Cemetery.
